Making Nominations

Each candidate for Mayor & Town Council shall be nominated as follows:
  • Each candidate for Town Council shall notify the Town Manager in writing of his or her candidacy.
  • All notifications of candidacy shall be filed in the Office of the Town Manager during regular business hours and no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, April 17th. Such notification of candidacy shall be upon a form furnished by the Town of Georgetown, which shall be dated, signed by the candidate, and witnessed by at least two (2) adult residents of the Town.
  • The Town Council shall hold a meeting within five (5) days after the close of the time for the filing of notification of candidacy to determine the qualification of the candidates.
If no person files for office for which an election is to be held, the incumbent shall be deemed to be reelected for a full term and it shall not be necessary to have an election.
