Notice of Solicitation of Candidates

The Town of Georgetown will hold its

Annual Municipal Election

Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Mayor

Town Council Person for the Third Ward

Town Council Person for the FourthWard

Will be considered during this election.

Any qualified candidate interested in filing for these offices may do so at the Town Hall.

The filing deadline is Friday, April 22, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Guidelines for Candidates:

1.    The Mayor shall be twenty-one (21) years of age, a citizen of the Unted States, the State of Delaware, and a bona fide resident of the Town of Georgetown.

1.   The Town Council Person from the Third Ward shall be twenty-one (21) years of age, a citizen of the United States, the State of Delaware, a bona fide resident of the Town of Georgetown, and a bona fide resident of the Third Ward.

2. The Town Council Person from the Fourth Ward shall be twenty-one (21) years of age, a citizen of the United States, the State of Delaware, a bona fide resident of the Town of Georgetown, and a bona fide resident of the Fourth Ward.

Terms of Office:
Town Council terms of office shall be for a period of two (2) years.

Voter Registration:
Voter Registration deadline for the 2016 Municipal Election is
Friday, April 29, 2016 at 4:30 PM

You must be a registered voter in the Town of Georgetown.

It is still necessary to register with the Town of Georgetown, even if you are a registered voter with the State of Delaware.

At such Annual Municipal Election, every person, male or female, who has attained the age of eighteen (18) years, is a United States Citizen, and a bona fide resident of The Town of Georgetown shall have one (1) vote, provided he or she is registered on the “Books of Registered Voters” of The Town of Georgetown.

Absentee Voting

Any registered voter of the Town of Georgetown, who wishes to vote by absentee voting, may do so by obtaining an “Affidavit for Absentee Voting” at the Town Hall. Absentee ballots will be available Monday, April 25, 2016.  Absentee ballots can either be picked up at Town Hall or mailed. The deadline for voting by absentee ballot in person is Friday, May 13, 2016 at 12:00pm.
