Planning & Zoning Department

History

The Town Council of Georgetown created the Planning and Zoning Department in July of 2001. The Department moved out of the Town Hall and is located in the south side of the Police Department on North Race Street. The Department was made up of two Code Enforcement Officers and one Director to oversee the daily operations.

The Department has seen an increased volume in issues involving permitting, site plans, subdivision and annexation reviews since established in 2001. Based on the increase development demand as of January 2007, the Department is staffed with a Secretary, an Administrative Assistant, a Code Enforcement Officer and a Director who hold the following responsibilities:

Positions and Responsibilities

  • Jamie Craddock, Secretary
    Jamie is tasked with the Department's purchasing, building permit and business license applications, Board / Commission support (agenda's and packets), posting agendas and Public Notices in the newspaper, notifying Post Office of address changes, daily cash receipt reconciliation, plan review applications, as well assisting the general public.
  • Dominic Santangelo, Code Enforcement
    Dominic is tasked with the Town's housing issues (overcrowding, condemnation, maintenance), code complaints (detrimental objects, animals, grass / vegetation height, trash dumpsters), and enforcement of business licensing and building permits.
  • Tom Klein, Director
    Tom is tasked with overseeing the operation of the Department, providing direction and clarification to the staff, attending the Board / Commission / Outside Agency Meetings, as well as providing updated development and growth information to the public / Town Officials. He also reviews plan applications (Category II site plans, variances / exceptions, zoning amendment, Historic sign reviews) and building permits.

Code of the Town of Georgetown

The Code of the Town of Georgetown provides all the rules and regulations set forth by the Mayor and Council. The Code is divided into two major divisions.
